Please note the following opportunity is a LOAN that must be repaid in full with interest.  Loans such as this are an option for individuals who have exhausted all other sources of funding and are still in financial need.

YORK ROTARY CHARITABLE ENDOWMENT FUND EDUCATIONAL LOAN

Eligibility:  Loans are restricted to men and women who have graduated or will graduate from schools in York County or to those residing in York County.  Loans are for those seeking undergraduate degrees only. Credit worthiness and financial need must be demonstrated.  More information is available in the Guidance Office.

Amount:   Varies. The maximum loan amount for the current year is $3,000.

Due Date:  All applications must be RECEIVED by May 31st.  

Scholarship Bulletin 4/27/12

Andrea & Blaize Neiderer Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility:    This scholarship will be given annually by the John Neiderer Family in Memorium of Andrea and Blaize Neiderer.  The recipient must be a senior member of the South Western Football Team, and be planning to attend a two or four year institution of higher education.  The recipient will be selected by the current varsity football staff and must:

  • Have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Be a member of the football program for three years (one of which must be their senior year)
  • Have contributed to the school and community and possess good citizenship
  • Not be receiving a full tuition scholarship
  • Be attending a four-year institution of higher learning or a two-year post secondary institution

Amount:    $2,000

Eligibility:Any senior from one of the area high schools who plans to continue his/her study of art after high school is eligible. Students applying must be accepted by a college, university, institute or school of art by the time of the required interview. Martin’s Gallery Scholarship – P.Buckley Moss, The Artist

Eligibility:  Scholarship awarded to one student graduating from a local high school who has a physical or mental learning disability.  Applicant must be continuing their education in vocational, technical or academic school.  More information and an application are available in the Guidance office.

Scholarship Bulletin 4/10/12

HOLLAR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

Eligibility:   High School Senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) who desires to continue his/her education on a higher level after graduation but does not have sufficient financial resources.  Students may attend any accredited, public or private, two-year or four-year college, university, technical college or trade school.  Applicants are NOT eligible if they are employed, descendant or family member of an employee of Susquehanna Trust & Investment Co or have a descendant or family member on the Selection Committee.  More information and an application are available in the Guidance office.

STOLTE SCHOLARSHIP FUND GRANT

Eligibility:    Applicants should be high school seniors, college or seminary students  pursuing careers in the ministry or other church-related vocations. Dollars for Scholars

Eligibility:   Current SW senior planning to attend a two-or-four year accredited college or university as a full-time student pursuing a career in the medical or mental health fields, including but not limited to nursing, medicine, psychology, clinical counseling, social work, psychiatry, allied health sciences. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Applicant must complete an essay of no more than 500 words.   More information and an application can be found in the Guidance office.

Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating seniors in the top 1/3 of their class who attended Baresville Elementary School for at least three years. KIDS’ CHANCE OF PENNSYLVANIA SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility:       Applicants must have a parent who has been seriously injured or killed as a result of a work-related accident that meets the criteria of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act and that has resulted in demonstrated financial need. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 25.  Apply on-line under the “Scholarships” tab at www.kidschanceof pa.org.

Amount:          Determined by the number and eligibility of students who apply and available funds.

Republican Club Scholarship

Eligibility:       SWHS senior who has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, and attendance record is 87% or higher. Attach a copy of your college acceptance letter along with a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher or coach.  In addition, the applicant must submit 500 word essay on “The Importance of being a Life-Long Learner”  More information and an application can be found in Guidance.

(1)   Gen/Kelly Tanabe Scholarship

Eligibility:       Opened to 9- 12th High School Students, college and graduate students who are legal U. S. residents. Students may study any major and attend any college in the U.S. Scholarship requires a short personal statement.  More information can be found in Guidance.

Eligibility:       Opened to 10 – 12th grade high school, college or adult students. Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship

Eligibility: Students must be nominated by someone age 21 years or older. Parents may nominate their own children. Students eligible for nomination must be legal U.S.residents of a state in which a Kohl’s store is located. Students must be between the ages of 6 and 18 and not yet a high school graduate as of March 15. Nomination forms may only be completed and submitted at www.kohlskids.com no later thanMarch 15.
