ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must demonstrate financial need.  Applicant must have maintained high academic achievement, must plan for full-time enrollment in an accredited post-secondary school next year, and must be a current SWHS senior or a graduate of South Western School District.

AMOUNT:  10 awards ~ $2,200 each

Future Educators Scholarship

Lincoln Intermediate Unit’s  PROMOTING FUTURE EDUCATORS SCHOLARSHIP 

Eligibility: Graduating senior from a high school in Adams, Franklin, or York County; Accepted into a post secondary program that will certify you to work in the field of education and, to some degree, with special needs students.

Amount: $1,000

Women in the Trades Scholarship

HER TRADITIONS – WOMEN IN THE TRADES SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Female residents of York, Lancaster, and the Capital Region who are pursuing a career in the trades; Applicants must have participated in at least 5 hours of job shadowing within the past calendar year; GPA of 3.0 or higher through current level of education; Community service involvement

Amount: $500

Hollar Educational Scholarship Trust

HOLLAR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

ELIGIBILITY: High school senior or graduate of Hanover, South Western, Delone Catholic, or New Oxford with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) who desires to continue their education on a higher level after graduation but does not have sufficient financial resources. Students may attend any accredited, public or private, two-year or four-year college, university, technical college or trade school. Applicants are NOT eligible if they are employed, descendant or family member of an employee of Truist or have a descendant of a family member on the Selection Committee.

AMOUNT:  $10,000 per year for 4 years ($40,000 total)

DUE DATE: April 21, 2023

A properly and neatly completed application is essential.  Also, the selection committee tends to favor students who also submit a short essay to expand upon their credentials, extra curricular activities, work experience, and/or community service, as well as what they hope to study in college.  Please make note of this “extra essay” as it is not specified in the instructions themselves.  However, if you include a short, well written essay addressing the items above, you will have a better chance of winning!

The Makenzee George Memorial Scholarship Fund

THE MAKENZEE GEORGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (3 scholarships advertised)

Eligibility Requirements per scholarship:

Softball Scholarship: High school student who has played on their high school team for at least 2 years; Minimum 3.0 GPA; Accepted to an accredited college

Nursing Scholarship:  Minimum 3.0 GPA; accepted into a nursing program

Military Scholarship:  Minimum 3.0 GPA; Enlisted in a military branch of service; Acceptance to an accredited college

Hanover Elks Ladies Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship

HANOVER ELKS LADIES AUXILIARY NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: High school senior who has been accepted into an accredited nursing program leading to a career as a registered nurse.  Must attend one of the following high schools: Bermudian, Biglerville, Delone, Gettysburg, Hanover, Littlestown, New Oxford, Spring Grove, or South Western.

Amount: (2) $1,000

Scott and Hoffnagle Scholarship Fund

SCOTT AND HOFFNAGLE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Eligibility:  High school senior or college student who has maintained a minimum GPA of 2.50 in the most recent academic year and is attending an accredited post secondary school. The applicant must reside within a 50 mile radius of Leola, PA or a 25 mile radius of Wilmington, DE.  Current post secondary students must be full time and attending a school located in either PA or DE. Preference will be given to those studying a trade.

Amount: (1) $10,000 ; (2) $7,500 ; (2) $5,000
