Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans

Eligibility:  Must be a full time high school JUNIOR planning to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree. Student must be in critical financial need.  The applicant must also hold a minimum 2.0 GPA, be involved in community service, and show integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

Amount:  ranging from $10,000 to $25,000

Lenfest College Scholarship – JUNIORS ONLY

Amount: up to $12,000 per year (for four years) – up to $48,000 total

Eligibility: Lenfest is open to SWHS JUNIORS who excel academically. Lenfest winners will receive personalized college counseling and support from the Lenfest College Scholars Program as well as financial support of up to $12,000 per year of college (depending on individual need). The Lenfest application consists of a first round application completed online, a semi-finalist application also completed online, and finalist interviews.

Eligibility:  Be a resident of PA and plan to further your education in Agriculture Education, Agronomy, Floriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Botany, Biology (not medical), Conservation, Environmental Concerns, Forestry, Plant Pathology, City Planning, Wildlife Science, Land Management, and/or allied subjects

Amount: Multiple scholarships with a minimum $1,000 award

Eligibility: Current high school student planning to pursue post secondary education in a field that enhances or supports the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Some examples include Marine Biology, Forestry Management, Ecology related fields, and Natural Resource Management.

ELIGIBILITY:  Applicants must have a diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder confirmed by a physician; Provide proof of acceptance to a post secondary academic or vocational program; Be a high school graduate of the class of 2024; Attend school full time in the 2023-2024 school year; Be a legal resident of western or central PA; Must attend at least one of the EAWCP’s Run/Walk in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Altoona, or Erie

AMOUNT:  Three (3)  $1,500 scholarships and seven (7) $1,000 scholarships
