Bowman Scholarship

THE ROBERT T. and BEATRICE V. BOWMAN SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must demonstrate financial need.  Applicant must have maintained high academic achievement, must plan for full-time enrollment in an accredited post-secondary institution, and must be a current SWHS senior or a graduate of South Western School District who has won in a previous year

AMOUNT:  To Be Determined (previous years yielded 8-10 awards approximately $2,000 each)

Eligibility: Current senior at Hanover, South Western, Delone, Spring Grove

The Foundation has several scholarships available to students such as:

Tom Adams, Jo Hunger, George Lamotte Dental Scholarship Fund for students planning to become a dentist, dental specialist, or dental hygienist.

Robert R. Anderson Family Scholarship Fund for students pursuing studies related to agriculture.

Flinchbaugh Engineering Education Scholarship Fund for children/grandchildren of employees of Flinchbaugh Engineering, Inc.

Shipley Scholarship Fund for children/grandchildren of Shipley Group.

Fuel Their Fire Scholarships Fund for those seeking a career in the are of emergency services (see application for list)

Christa McAulilffe Scholarship Fund for those planning for a degree in education.

Hollar Educational Scholarship Trust

HOLLAR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

ELIGIBILITY: High school senior or graduate of Hanover, South Western, Delone Catholic, or New Oxford with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) who desires to continue their education on a higher level after graduation but does not have sufficient financial resources. Students may attend any accredited, public or private, two-year or four-year college, university, technical college or trade school. Applicants are NOT eligible if they are employed, descendant or family member of an employee of Truist or have a descendant of a family member on the Selection Committee.

AMOUNT:  $10,000 per year for 4 years ($40,000 total)

A properly and neatly completed application is essential.  Also, the selection committee tends to favor students who also submit a short essay to expand upon their credentials, extra curricular activities, work experience, and/or community service, as well as what they hope to study in college.  Please make note of this “extra essay” as it is not specified in the instructions themselves.  However, if you include a short, well written essay addressing the items above, you will have a better chance of winning!
